Archer Farms Uncured Ham & Swiss Cheese Omelette Cups Review

Archer Farms Uncured Ham & Swiss Cheese Omelette Cups

Here at Freezer Meal Frenzy, we’ve been enjoying the Archer Farms brand of food, which is a sub-brand of Target. We’ve been moving through their line of omelette cups — cute little baby omelettes inside cupcake wrappers — and so far we’ve really liked what we’ve tried. Of course, we’ve only done a couple vegetarian-friendly takes on the dish, the Broccoli & Cheddar Cheese Omelette Cups and the Feta Cheese, Red Quinoa & Spinach Omelette Cups. So today we’re going to jump into something that carnivores might enjoy, the Archer Farms Uncured Ham & Swiss Cheese Omelette Cups.

First up, these are a cinch to cook. The omelette cups come in trays of two — each box contains two trays, thus four omelette cups in total — and you simply peel off the plastic wrap and stick a try in the microwave for 90 seconds. That’s all there is to it.

These tend to be a bit more misshapen than the perfectly round cups shown on the box, but they otherwise come out of the microwave looking pretty tasty.

The real star of these omelette cups is the uncured ham, which lend a smokey flavor to the whole affair. Don’t expect huge chunks of ham or anything; these are small little square-shaped cuts. They’re a little tough, but not in a bad way — they’re a little bit like bacon, but not quite.

The swiss cheese isn’t some goey, stretchy, melty cheese filling. Instead, it’s mixed into the egg portion to give it just a hint of creaminess.

There are also flecks of scallions in the mix to enhance the flavor. We think this really brings out the smokiness of the ham and contrasts nicely with the sour undertones of the swiss. It’s a really nice touch.

Considering how small these are, they have quite a bit of calories. A pair will run you 370 calories (270 from fat), which is a whole lot. You can probably eat one of these in three big bites, which means this is maybe six bites of food. The sodium is less problematic at 560 mg, but we still can’t recommend making these part of your daily routine. Eat these in moderation.

The Archer Farms Uncured Ham & Swiss Cheese Omelette Cups are great, though they’re pretty small. While we would have liked these mini omelettes to be lower in calories, we really enjoy them as a breakfast-time snack, and we think you will too.
