Amy’s Indian Vegetable Korma has a lot going for it. It’s both dairy-free and gluten-free. It contains organic rice and vegetables, and it offers some variety to eaters. But while this is definitely a solid meal, we can’t say that it’s one of our favorite frozen dishes from Amy’s Kitchen.
The texture of the rice is excellent, but something about it feels a little off. The package identifies it as Basmati rice, but it doesn’t have the flavor or consistency that you usually see with Basmati. This could be a microwave dinner issue, or it could be a problem with the seasoning. Regardless, the rice is much better when you mix it together with the vegetables and dal.
The meal isn’t very spicy, which was a bit of a disappointment for our staff. After all, spice is one of the things we love about Indian food. Thankfully, we wouldn’t describe this dish as bland either. It just has less of a kick than you would expect from Indian Korma.
There’s a lot to like about this dish, from the raisins to the creamy flavor that the coconut milk provides. Still, we can’t see ourselves coming back to this particular frozen dinner. There are so many good choices in the Amy’s lineup, and we can easily find something tastier.
