Red’s Organic Cheese Quesadilla Burrito Review

Red's Organic Cheese Quesadilla Burrito

Frozen burritos are one of our true loves here at Freezer Meal Frenzy. We just can’t get enough of the things. In fact, this site was founded on frozen burrito reviews. So of course when we discovered Red’s Organic Cheese Quesadilla Burrito, we jumped at the chance of writing another frozen burrito review.

Now, we’ve had Red’s burritos in the past, and we found the Turkey, Sausage, Egg & Three Cheese Burrito to be incredible, while the Egg & Cheddar Burrito was a bit underwhelming. We were hoping for greatness when we saw the beautiful orangy-yellow package of the Cheese Quesadilla Burrito, but we knew better than to get our hopes too high.

We often use our own in-house cooking method for frozen burritos. When it comes to Red’s, though, the package gives instructions that are quite a bit more complex than ours, so we tend to follow those instead. You’ll need to preheat your oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit, for starters. Then, crack open the package and toss your burrito into the microwave for a minute, covered. This will get a nice thaw started. After that, plop the burrito onto a coated cookie sheet and cook for about 10-12 minutes. Be sure to flip the thing about halfway through the cooking process.

There’s a big question lingering here: What makes this a quesadilla burrito as opposed to just a cheese burrito? Well, having chopped one of these open, the answer is clear. While most cheese burritos come with rice or beans or some other filling to complement the cheese, this burrito is filled with a four-cheese blend and that’s pretty much it (there’s one other thing, but we’ll get to that in a bit). This is really just a cheese quesadilla in the shape of a burrito.

If you cut it in half like we did, a whole avalanche of cheese pours out. The cheese is a blend of yellow cheddar, pepper jack, mozzarella, and white cheddar. It’s gooey and melty, and it tastes absolutely delicious. This burrito was definitely made with lovers of cheese in mind.

Now, there is one other ingredient that you’ll find in the filling, diced jalapeño peppers. There’s not a ton of them here, and they’re chopped pretty small, but they do add just a little bit of a kick to the flavor. Of course, we wouldn’t dare refer to this as a spicy burrito — it’s not even mildly spicy.

This is a bit higher in calories than we’d hoped, at 370. Considering this is a pretty small little guy that definitely won’t fill you up on its own, that’s quite a lot. You could easily end up eating two of these in a sitting. The sodium is a bit high as well. At 600 mg, this is lower than the average frozen meal in sodium, but if you end up eating two in a sitting, that really adds up fast.

Red’s Organic Cheese Quesadilla Burrito is exactly what it sounds like: a burrito designed for quesadilla lovers. If you’re looking for a burrito that’s packed with a variety of ingredients, this one won’t do it for you, but anyone who can’t get enough cheese will find this burrito to be heavenly.
