Sometimes, a plain sausage pizza is just what the doctor ordered. Well, probably not literally, but you know what we mean. Sometimes you just get the craving for a bunch of sausage spheres on a delicious pizza.
That’s us today, so we thought it was a good day to bring a Lotzza Motzza Sausage Pizza into the Freezer Meal Fenzy office and give it a good samplin’. That’s what we do here at Freezer Meal Frenzy.
So first up, this thing is easy to cook. If you’ve ever heated a frozen pizza before, this isn’t going to throw any curveballs. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees fahrenheit and pop the pizza in for about 21 minutes. That’s all there is to it. (You can read the full cooking instructions by checking out the package scans at the bottom of this review.)
Lotzza Motzza rarely disappoints, and this is one killer pizza that really plays to their strengths. When we reviewed their Hawaiian Pizza, we noted that while the toppings were good, they didn’t necessarily complement the Lotzza Motzza formula (we still loved that pizza, though). With the Sausage Pizza, however, Lotzza Motzza is bringing their “A” game. This is a fantastic pie.
The slight spiciness of the sauce really goes well with the slight spiciness of the sausage. Plus, the generous sausage portion is a meat-lover’s delight, and the gobs and gobs of cheese (over a half pound of the stuff on any 12″ Lotzza Motzza pizza) really seals the deal. This is pizza perfection.
Of course, all this pizza goodness comes with a high price in the calorie department — this is no low-calorie pizza. The package considers 1/5 of the pizza to be a serving, and even that contains 350 calories (150 from fat). If you eat half a pizza, which is a real temptation, you’ll end up downing 875 calories (375 from fat). Yikes.
The Lotzza Motzza Sausage Pizza is one of the best pizzas in the Lotzza Motzza lineup. And that’s really saying something because this is a brand that’s typically head and shoulders above the competition when it comes to frozen pizzas. The calorie count is going to dissuade quite a few people, we’re sure, but this pizza is definitely worth spending a cheat day on.
