Totino’s Takis Fuego Mini Snack Bites (Pizza Rolls) Review

Totino's Takis Fuego Mini Snack Bites

It’s likely you know the Totino’s brand for their pizza rolls or their mega-cheap frozen pizzas; these are the tentpole Totino’s products, after all. However, sometimes Totino’s decides to color way outside the lines. Today, we’re checking out a bizarre and unexpected team-up between Totino’s and Takis Fuegos: the Totino’s Takis Fuego Mini Snack Bites. Yes, this is a frozen snack that you’ll find in the freezer aisle; it’s not a bag of chips (despite looking like one and having the Takis Fuegos name emblazoned across the packaging).

The very first thing we noticed about these when we opened the package is how red they are. As soon as they start to melt just a little bit, they produce a red liquid that we thought looked like Cherry Kool-Aid — this is because they’re both frozen and coated in a red powder.

As for cooking these, you could toss them into the microwave if you’d like, but we heated ours in the oven. Instructions for both methods are on the back of the bag, and you can read the full directions by scrolling down to the package scans at the bottom of this review.

Totino's Takis Fuego Mini Snack Bites

The Totino’s Takis Fuego Mini Snack Bites feel a bit like someone took pizza rolls and coated them in Flamin’ Hot Cheeto dust. It’s an unusual flavor combination, and how much you enjoy it will vary based on how much you enjoy junk food and spicy chips. Thanks to the dried cream cheese (which is blended with imitation Monterey jack and mozzarella), these bites aren’t too hot to handle, even though they’re made with hot chili pepper. Even so, it can be tough to eat too many of them. Totino’s says that a serving is 13 bites, but none of our reviewers managed to polish off that many in one sitting.

If you are a fan of these powdery red bites, you’ll really get your money’s worth out of a bag. These snacks are on the smaller side — they’re definitely bite-sized — but there about 60 bites per bag, making this more generous than a lot of other pizza rolls we’ve reviewed. Even if you don’t wind up loving this Totino’s treat, we’d say that it’s worth trying for the novelty factor alone. This is totally unlike any other pizza rolls that we’ve sampled.

The Totino’s Takis Fuego Mini Snack Bites is the perfect snack for anyone who doesn’t mind having their hands covered in red powder. This might lead to a bit of a mess, but it’s a unique frozen food item that our staffers largely enjoyed. We love classic Totino’s pizza rolls, but sometimes, we want our snack food to feel like an adventure.
