Totino’s Triple Cheese Pizza Stuffers Review

Totino's Triple Cheese Pizza Stuffers

With both budget-friendly pizza and pizza rolls already checked off from their checklist of accomplishments, Totino’s has been trying their hand at pizza pockets. We very recently tried out the pepperoni version, but today we’re going to take a bite of the vegetarian-friendly version, the Totino’s Triple Cheese Pizza Stuffers.

According to the Totino’s website, these come in both four-count and eight-count boxes, but we just picked up the four-count version at our local Target store (they were priced at $3.99).

These aren’t individually wrapped — they come two per wrapper. To cook them, simply pull them out of the wrapper and pop them in the microwave. Your cook time will vary based on how many you want to heat at a time, but if you go with the two provided in a single wrapper, you’ll end up cooking these for about three minutes. Just remember to flip them over at the halfway point. (If you want to read the full cooking instructions straight off the box, check out the package scans at the bottom of this review.)

Totino's Triple Cheese Pizza Stuffers

We mentioned this the last time we reviewed some Pizza Stuffers, but the crust ends up with a soft- twinkie-like consistency that we don’t think is the right fit for these. We’d prefer something a bit sturdier. Perhaps if Totino’s packaged these with crisping sleeves (or if we cooked these in the oven), they would turn out a little better.

The flavor, though, is what we’re here for, and these things really deliver in that regard. We initially thought the “Triple Cheese” part of the title was just marketing, but these actually do have a pretty decent amount of mozzarella cheese inside. It comes in little cubes that, despite melting, never really lose their form entirely. They’ll never melt into a solid gob of mozzarella, which feels a little bit strange, but pizza rolls tend to have the same issue (though the cheese cubes are smaller in pizza rolls than they are here).

These are finished off with some tomato paste. It’s nothing to write home about, but it does tie the whole thing together in a really nice, pizza-y way.

A single Pizza Stuffer contains 280 calories and 510 mg of sodium. That doesn’t sound that bad until you consider the fact that you’ll probably eat two at a time, bringing those numbers up to 560 calories and 1,020 mg of sodium. You’ll probably not want to make these a regular meal.

We like the Totino’s Triple Cheese Pizza Stuffers a lot better than their pepperoni-filled counterparts. We think the extra cheese really sets these ones apart, and the pepperoni never really did much for us anyway. Triple cheese FTW!
