Lotzza Motzza Micro Brew Pepperoni Pizza Review

Lotzza Motzza Micro Brew Pepperoni Pizza

We probably love pizza a bit too much for our own good. Of course, this means that we’ll take any excuse to review the stuff, and Freezer Meal Frenzy has a long history of covering frozen pizzas (even some pretty weird ones).

The Lotzza Motzza brand (a sub-brand of Bernatello’s) rarely disappoints, so whenever it comes time to review another entry in their expansive lineup, we know it’s going to be a good day. And today, dear readers, is a good day, because we’re checking out the Lotzza Motzza Micro Brew Pepperoni Pizza. The Micro Brew sub-line, in case you aren’t familiar, contains 9″ pizzas as opposed to the traditional 12″ offerings.

Unlike some of the “personal-sized” pizzas on the market, this one does not come with microwave instructions. You’ll need to cook this in the oven. That’s no big deal though, as it’s pretty simple. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees fahrenheit, then put the pizza on a baking sheet and pop it in for about 18 minutes. The package recommends just putting it directly on the center rack, but we find the baking sheet to be cleaner. The pizza cooks just fine this way too. (You can read the full cooking instructions by checking out the package scan at the bottom of this review.)

Now, a lot of what this pizza offers is the same stuff you can find on any Lotzza Motzza pizza. It has the same cracker-thin crust, generous amounts of sauce that’s a little bit sweet and a little bit spicy, and, of course, gobs of delicious mozzarella cheese (as the brand name would suggest). All of this is here, and, as always, it’s very good.

The thing that truly sets this pizza apart, though, is the pepperoni. And holy moly, is this stuff ever fantastic.

Lotzza Motzza puts their pepperoni underneath the cheese rather than on top of it. This means it mingles with the sauce rather than sitting atop the pizza to dry out, so it ends up soft, juicy, and with a bit of the sauce’s flavor. Plus, this is a high-quality pepperoni in its own right, elevating the quality of the pizza as a whole.

Even though this is advertised as a single-serve pizza, it’s actually a bit larger than that. The package claims there are three servings here, but we tend to find about 2/3 of a pizza to be a good-sized meal, with 1/3 leftover for reheating later on. If you stick with the package’s recommendations, you’ll be consuming 350 calories (160 from fat) and 820 mg of sodium. If you take our bad advice, you’ll be up to 700 calories (320 from fat) and 1,640 mg of sodium. Needless to say, this is not a diet-friendly pizza.

The Lotzza Motzza Micro Brew Pepperoni Pizza is an absolute treat for fans of pepperoni. This is some high-quality stuff. If you can ignore the calorie count (and even worse, the sodium level), this is an amazing pizza that should satisfy a pepperoni craving.
